Toca House

Toca House

TOCA BOCA has been known to make super quality apps for toddlers, which often behave more like toys rather than a game with a win/lose situation. In this case, the fellows at TOCA BOCA took a rather grayish subject, House Chores, and made it into a fun and vividly colorful game.

In the game, you visit a townhouse located in the middle of a field. The player is introduced to the neighbors, who each have several chores to do in his own apartment or in the common areas of the building. Chores include cleaning the floor, washing the dishes, trimming the lawn etc.

The app’s usability is aimed at older toddlers from ages 3 and above. However, with some parental guidance, 2 year olds would be able to do several of the activities in this iPad app.

What happened when the kids used it?

The 3 year olds had no problems at all with the chores, including the chores that require dragging. They had a great time and spent at least 15 minutes play with it. The favorite activity was obviously washing the dishes, where you could drop a plate and hear it shatter into a million pieces. The younger children had trouble with the chores that required dragging or sophisticated logic but this is not a deal breaker.

I have become used to expecting the best from TOCA BOCA studio and once again, I was not disappointed. The art, music and game play is superb, the price is right, and therefore, I am happy to say that this is one of the best toddler apps for iPad currently available. BTA Score: 5/5
